Hey paddling friends! Its already been a few months since we closed up shop for the season in Nova Scotia. We’ve made the long commute south to guide sea kayak trips in Antarctica again. We’ve had some incredible wildlife encounters so far - massive pods of orca (including Type D!!), humpback whale soup, icebergs full of resting crabeater seals, porpoising penguins of every sub Antarctic & Antarctic variety. The immensity and beauty of the Southern Continent never cease to amaze us. Each trip is a privilege - an opportunity to visit an incredibly remote and wild place.
We’re on summer vacation now, taking a time out from the ice in the hot South American summer. We’ve toured some crazy desert roads up over the Andes, through the Atacama Desert and back down to the Chilean coast. We’re set up in a cabin, online, catching up with the world. We’ve heard from some of our guides. Logan has been busy chasing down the best of the winter surf in Nova Scotia. Gavin hopped aboard a sailboat, wrote some songs, and starred in this little film. Paul, always a gentleman, has been surfacing a some local pool sessions to help others out with their roll…maybe you’ve seen him?
What about you? We’d love to hear about your winter adventures.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to our stretch of coastal paradise in Nova Scotia this spring. We have some new multi-day tours on offer; our new LaHave Islands Glamping Adventure and South Shore Inn to Inn tours offer comfort and luxury, paired with amazing paddling adventures. We’ve been getting lots of inquiries about our kayaking and camping tours too. Paddling with icebergs in Newfoundland, a post-kayak yoga session on one of the forgotten island beaches of the South Shore…none of our trips are blasé! All of the dates are posted so you can plan your 2018 adventures. Our Paddle Canada kayak and stand-up paddle board course offerings are listed now too, including our new Coastal Touring Level 1 course...
And speaking of a love of learning new water skills…it’s time to go play in the surf here! We just have one week left to graduate from the whitewash and catch the perfect wave in Chile’s Pichimelu! Wish us luck! Then it’s back to Antarctica for round two aboard the Ocean Endeavour where Sarah will be guiding kayaking and Scotty stand up paddle-boarding! We look forward to seeing you on the water in Nova Scotia soon after!
