Francesca Bray

Although relatively new to sea kayaking, Francesca is no stranger to the ocean or the outdoors. When she is not paddling, Francesca spends her time sailing, surfing, and swimming amongst the waves on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.

Francesca has previously worked as an outdoor educator and sailing instructor on coastal expeditions in Nova Scotia. She has also worked as a CYA certified sailing instructor and race coach in her home province of Ontario and volunteered with
a Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Marine Search and Rescue Unit on Lake Ontario.

Francesca is a passionate outdoorswoman; from bagging munros in Scotland; mountaineering in British Columbia; ice climbing throughout Québec and Ontario; and backpacking the West Coast Trail, Francesca has accumulated extensive wilderness experience. Growing up through the Scouting movement, Francesca’s passion for outdoor adventure and wilderness survival was stoked at a young age.

Francesca also holds a MA in Arctic Security Studies and International Relations. She currently works for an Alaska based non-profit fostering sustainable and holistic solutions to Arctic coastal development.
