Ryan Munro

Growing up all over New Brunswick, Ryan's first passion was hockey.  Ryan played and eventually coached at the minor hockey and high school levels. His interests evolved when he moved to Jasper, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies and discovered mountaineering, climbing and mountain biking.  Soon after moving back to the East Coast, he began sea kayaking and took his first stroke at a certified course in 2008.  Since then, he has become a Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 4 paddler and a Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 2 instructor.  He has taken BC coastal water and open water navigation courses and holds an advanced remote first responder certificate.

Ryan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UNB, after which he pursued a professional accounting designation.  Working for McCain Foods in his hometown of Florenceville, he worked in the global corporate business world for three years.  He then proudly supported the Canadian Armed Forces, working as a Finance Coordinator operating out of Kandahar, Afghanistan for two years.  Ryan began working in the Polar Regions for Quark Expeditions in 2013 and is also involved with Outward Bound Canada where he works as an outdoor educator.  Ryan loves to be outside, whether it is in a kayak, on foot, or gardening his oceanside front yard.  Exploring the great outdoors brings a passion and love for the environment.  He is always excited to explore new sites, meeting fascinating people and continuously learning about these places.
